Our MissionVegans Plus is dedicated to providing the tools, products and services to help consumers make the transition to a plant-based diet. We serve the general public, businesses, food service and health care providers, schools, colleges, and state and federal agencies.
Company ProfileVegans Plus is an online and mail-order house specializing in products and services designed to help consumers convert to a plant-based diet. We provide information and recipes, both original and from third-party sources. We offer recipe development and recipe conversion. In addition, we offer vegan products and other natural products at very competitive prices. Vegans Plus is affiliated with several providers of high-quality vegan and natural products. This allows us to offer these products at much lower prices than your local supermarket, health-food store or pharmacy.
Our founder, Lisa Kagan, has had a lifelong interest in natural foods and has been vegan since 1999. She has been developing vegan recipies and converting non-vegan ones directly into vegan recipes.
President's Message Hello. I'm Lisa Kagan, president of Vegans-Plus. I am a totally blind homemaker and businesswoman. I founded Vegans-Plus because I want others to experience the benefits of a plant-based diet Although there is no question that a diet consisting of whole plant foods is better for our health, more economical, and more conservation-friendly than a meat-based diet, too many consumers miss out on these benefits. The reason for this is that many products marketed as vegetarian are more expensive than the meat or dairy products they were designed to replace so that many shoppers refuse to buy them. Another problem is the use of health-damaging ingredients such as hydrogenated fat, chemical dyes, and excess sugar and sodium in many products. Another concern is that too many manufacturers use slogans such as "no animal fat" or "no lactose" to fool consumers into believing that their products are completely plant-based when in fact they contain egg or milk derivatives that can be hazardous to persons with allergies. As a vegan consumer myself I will only offer products thatI would use in my own kitchen. Everything Vegans-Plus sells must meet my standards for quality and must come from ethical companies. I absolutely refuse to buy any product containing hydrogenated fat, artificial colors,artificial preservatives, or artificial sweeteners. Any ethical company will have information on its labels alerting consumers with regard to the presence or absence of potential allergens in its products. I also refuse to pay filet mignon prices for soy products. Soy is the cheapest protein on the planet but too many companies are more interested in helping their bottom lines than in helping consumers or the environment. . I strongly believe that the privilege of doing business entails good business citizenship. To this end we will be donating a percentage of our proceeds to carefully-selected nonprofit organizations dedicated to social justice and sustainability.
